Heart-Made Magazine

Heart-Made
a Hypothetical, Original Magazine
Editorial Design . George Brown College
Heart-Made magazine is designed for artist-types are looking for ways to pursue their art outside of the computer and business life. Heart-Made is all about showcasing hand-made work that comes from the heart.

The target group is young adults who are engaged in careers on or surrounding tech/computers and have a passion for exploring their creative side with their hands.

The magazine is really about approachable quality — what do I mean by that? I'm sure many people have come across an article/page in a magazine that features something DIY (do it yourself). Maybe its a recipe, a pallet wood table for the deck, or a tie dye technique — and all of these are great but the questions are : "Could I actually make it look like the article shows? Is this not challenging enough and will it end up looking like everything else out there? Am I just following a cheap trend?"

So this magazine will incorporate articles and features about real people doing real things in terms of art and small business, but will also feature really well thought out instructional tips to make high quality things from your own hands. These tips/instructions will also teach you to carry on that ability to make it your own, original work and maybe create a new personal style from it.

Covers for the first 3 issues
The main cover is actually based off a picture of me. I took a bit of an awkward timed selfie while holding a shoe box, but then put it into Illustrator and created a simplified illustration from it. I was very happy with it and loved the colour scheme I went with!
Article Mockup
Recurring article. This is an article that will be repeated in a every issue. The recurring article will be: Small Business Spotlight. This month's spotlight is Sarah's Sunny Beads.
