A selection of Small Abstract Paintings created by Robert West from 2006-Present. Wests practice implements painterly strategies that endorse the expansion of his painting knowledge through the exploration of gesture, fracture and imprint. West states the painting plain offers seemingly infinite variations and discovering the potential of this plain is central to his practice. He believes Abstraction offers the experience of mythification and spectacularization through its mechanism to induce detachment from representation whilst simultaneously informing the invisible meaning of reality. West also explores Figurative painting saying 'that this will be the area which he will be devoting his time to in 2011'.
