Making Moves is a dance and performance series created by Kyle Mullins, an artist in living Kansas City, and hosted by the Charlotte Street Foundation at their performing arts space: Capsule. Making Moves brings together audience and performers, providing a platform for local movers and makers to create, produce, and share new choreographic works. Making Moves aims to build community through a shared passion for dance and movement, including showcases of various performing artists, improvisational pieces and lessons, and more.

In 2019, I designed two unique promotional posters for the first and second half of the year's slate of performances and improvisational jams.
My Process

Using Kyle Mullins' previous performances and dance events as a jumping off point, I thought it was important to highlight the movement and motion of these performances; they are dance shows after all. Equally, I wanted evoke the idea that these were more than just performance pieces to passively watch, but also interactive events that anyone could participate in. On top of that, I wanted the posters to feel inviting for audiences to feel compelled to participate, but not skew too heavily that they no longer felt like something all audiences could enjoy.
Thanks for checking out my work!
