I was invited by The Marshall Project, a nonprofit organization reporting on the US criminal justice to illustrate one of the articles on their "Life Inside" column.
The article is written by an inmate and in it he talks about his strategies to deal with prison chaos and violence. He describes the feeling of witnessing the sunrise from the prison yard, and I tried to capture that moment, with the sun just coming out from behind the walls and clearing his mind for an instant.
