Human culture is based on the ability to create tools. In the beginning, the goal of extending our physical capabilities with machines was survival, now we even create them merely to entertain ourselves.

Due to financial issues, the amusement park in Budapest closed in 2013, so I recorded the mechanics based fun with a custom made slit camera, similar to those employed in factories for quality control purposes. Capturing space, motion and time in this manner resembles the chronophotography of 19th century physiologist, Étienne-Jules Marey. The resulting image, shot from a single point of view, displays only one spatial dimension, substituting the second one with time itself, neglecting space almost entirely. This way, moving objects pop out of a motionless background.
