Piece by Piece
This art piece was inspired by an anime called Houseki no Kuni. This series has helped me a lot with finding my creativity.
The character drawn is knows as Padparadscha. This character is made of the mineral Padparadscha, but when it was created it had holes which prevented it from awakening, the only way it can wake up is if the right mineral is placed in the holes it has the chest.
This digital piece was a big challenge for me as I had never before drawn anything shiny. In this piece the minerals are revealed, which was a challenge to make. But I can proudly say that I'm happy with the outcome, I've tried many techniques and found the right one for this piece.
As always I started off with the sketch and gray-scale painting, the minerals are highlighted with red. After this followed the usual coloring process.
After this the most difficult part began for me, I had to make the minerals shine and give them that semi-realistic look I was going for. I spent multiple days, trying out different techniques until I was able to find the right one for me.
I jumped in the air when I was satisfied with my work and finished off with some extra coloring and effects.
