BunkerType is an idea of Jesús Morentin. From a family of printers and graphic designers, for over fifteen years I have been teaching in ESDI and Elisava, Superior Design Schools of Sabadell and Barcelona respectively. From 2009 I started a typographic research project and the recuperation of ancient printing methods -fully manual- using lead and wood types and thus creating my own workshop of experimentation with different techniques and languages: BunkerType.

BunkerType is the evolution of "typographic bunker", named ironically by a friend referring to the old storage room converted into a workshop full of letters that I started setting up three years ago. Initially, there were only a few wooden alphabets that gradually were extended to all the tools used in the old workshops of wooden and lead types.

Leads, forniture, spaces, brass rules, typefaces, type cases and presses pile up a space which I dedicate to typographic experimentation (with the traditional system), self-learning, dissemination of this technique and, above all, to share a different way of relationship with letters with all those typographic passionate wishing for it.
