Hi there. My name is Adam. I like to think of myself as a conessour of comfort foods and pretty decent at design too. A little hint of how to become a master of comfort foods is to figure out where that little kid is in you. For me that kid is in sandwiches. Now I am just going to start out with a shocker, I am not a fan of mustard. I find it too sour and takes away from the meat. That is another point, meat is good. Why do we need so many condiments to fill the sanwhich? it is a hard question to answer because we don't.
So here is where we start, a good solid bread. My breads of choice are rye, pumpernickel, demi baguettes, croissants, or challah. Choose your own, these are just some that I know work. Start with some mayo. Mayo is important, it adds moisture and flavor that compliments the meat without overpowering. Second is the meat itself. Don't skimp here, you are hungry and you need a real lunch portion. Not a starve me because I'm eating "healthy" portion. My meats of choice are oven baked turkey, corned beef, or pastrami. Now is the important part, the lettuce. If you think arugala is a good choice, you aren't letting your inner kid out. If you think iceberg is a good choice... you might as well not put lettuce. We are going for romaine. Romaine has crunch, it has flavor, and it is healthy enough for the inner kid without being too adult.
Now the cheese. Here is where people get picky, at least I know I do. My suggestion is Munster. Go with Munster. It is the best. If you can't swing munster go with cheddar or swiss. From there I am also a fan of colby jack, brie, Camembert, and a plethora of other cheese. The important thing here is stay away from American. We are children, not infants. We can handle real cheese.
So toppings. Feel free to add your own in here but the only thing I add is avocado. I'm not a fan of the taste of onions, the sliminess of tomato, or the juice of pickles. Now don't get me wrong I still eat all of these things, but I am pretending I am a child. Lets have some fun and keep it simple.
The final step is to cut the sandwich diagonally. We all know it tastes better that way.
So anyway I hope you enjoy your delicious sandwhich. You can thank me later for it and I will thank you for looking through my portfolio.
