In my works of art I not only create the illustrative character or environment concept, but the story that ties into and intertwines the visual narrative that is depicted.
The written word is a very important part of who I am, and is an integral element in the production of my various artistic creations. Every character, every environment, and every scene I create was first planned via the descriptive vernacular that percolates amidst the grey matter in my noggin. Once pen is put to paper, the story develops and the characters and environments naturally come to fruition. This organic process allows for the characters to be so much more than a paper thin representation of what humanity can be. Each character has a story, has a life of their own, and this can be used to give the drawing a sense of life and movement even if but for only a brief moment. An audience can become much more easily connected to what they perceive as a living breathing being rather than a hollow shell.
The core of developing a concept from the ground up is to craft a convincing narrative in which the viewer can get lost in and enjoy, and an artist who can perform this in both the written and illustrative just simply cuts out the middleman. Read Less
