Filbert Flow - Mascot

Digital Materials: Adobe Photoshop CS6

About:

Created as a mascot for Instruments Direct, one of several mascots created, to be used in promotional advertisements and email blasts for the Rental and Sales division. There are several variations of this particular character, Filbert Flow, to fit the various holidays / events in which he is utilized.

I was instructed to create a cartoon version of a Flow-Meter engineer, that was: pleasing to look at, simple color scheme, inoffensive, and had an endearing cartoon-ish style. I created a whole family of engineers to fit the above description, and modeled them after a plush squeeze toy.

Response has been positive, as the engineering world seems to be drawn towards colorful mascots that contrast to the very technical and monochromatic engineering advertisements. It is something different, and thus catches their attention. Who knows, perhaps in the future every engineer will have a little Filbert Flow toy sitting on their desk, that spouts amusing engineer quips with every squeeze.

Created Digitally Using Photoshop CS6 for all phases of creation, including thumbnail, sketch, inking, and digital coloring.
