36 GHẾ, founded in 2014, is a design studio located in Ho Chi Minh City (Vietnam).

The name 36 GHẾ can be understood in English as “36 chairs”.

On the day of our first meeting, we aimed to find an impressive name for our team, but we could not come up with any ideas. One of our members, while being stuck with the naming session, tried to look around the lab to find some inspiration, and even counted the chairs there, then realized that there were 36 chairs. Like a sudden idea came in an unexpected moment, we decided that “36 chairs” could be a unique name for the team. Beside a typical designer’s equipment and tools, such as computers, drawing tablets, sketchbooks or pens, a chair is an essential thing that he or she will need. A good chair provides the designer with an ideal workplace and a stable basement for idea development. For that reason, “chair” maybe a good inspiration for a new group of young designers. However, as we are all Vietnamese who are always proud of our nationality, our country and culture, we wanted to put something related to Vietnam in our name. That was why we decided to use the word “GHẾ” instead of “chair”.

However, in order to ensure that we were not choosing a name without knowing its potential hidden meanings, we made some researches and found that the name “36 GHẾ” was more meaningful than what we had thought. The number 36 is considered an angelic number since it has a lot of meanings in both mathematic and numerology field. In Mathematic, 36 is a square triangular number which is the sum of the first 8 digits, whereas in Numerology, number 36 can be considered as creativity and initial. In English, beside its literal sense, “chair” also carries the meaning of professorship, as in the word “chairman”. Thus, chair may represent someone who works professionally and is always ready to take the leading position. These virtues are also what we focus on.

For short, “36 GHẾ” expresses our philosophy to provide clients with creative works along with a professional and effective attitude. We promise to give clients with the best efforts, strategies and solutions which will enable them to enhance their business’ success.
