In my third year as a student at the University of Reading, we were briefed by Oxford University Press to create visuals for the book covers of three upcoming books for their Reading Tree series (which have since been released).
We were given a short plot synopsis for each book, and we created visuals based on these. My approach was to treat each book in its own individual style, with a few elements to tie them together (the Real Life Fiction logo concept, same typeface used for all text used save for the title)
I explored different styles, ranging from illustration, use of assets and photo montage to portray the different stories.
