In the fall of 2017, the Tomorrow's Teachers Freshman Interest Group (FIG) was vibrant and full of highly engaged students. The College of Education reached out about telling their story to prospective Mizzou students. I jumped at the chance.
These students came from many different backgrounds and as Freshman, they found common bonds in their shared interest of teaching. As part of the FIG, they live together in the same residence hall and are co-enrolled in three general education classes and a FIG seminar, taught by their student staff mentor who lives just down the hall from them. This unique environment helps jump-start their college experience and helps to set them up for success. This is their story.
