ONcovered Cakes
For a competition we were challenged to design an album cover. But instead of being at the end of the process, in this competition
the designer was at the start. Based on the album cover, the band was formed, the genre was chosen and the music was produced.
For the album cover our designer Ton was inspired by his old craft of being a baker. He designed a cover for the album The Wedding
from the band Cakes. The cake consists of five layers and every layer represents a track on the album with an unique genre and sound.
A musical wedding cake with tastes of techno, classic, hip-hop, jazz and folk. Finger licking good!

Out of more than 30 contestants from Sydney, Berlin, Atlanta, Sao Paulo and Moscow 3 winners were chosen. And…. Ton was one
of them! The band Cakes was formed and they actually produced the music and performed it live. Accompanied by VJ’ing by Ton.
In the end the original cake did not survive, due to a fire at the bakery. So rock and roll!
