Extrablatt is Vienna's annual publication celebrating the day of the coffee citywide. We were contacted by EUNIC (The European Council of Cultural Institutes) to design this year's publication.

 

The event happened simultaneously in 9 ofthe most prestigious cafe's in Vienna(Braunerhof, Hummel, Korb, Landtmann, Museum, Pruckel, Schwarzenberg, Sperl & Weimar).  Each cafe hosted a famous viennese actor who was invited to read 2 coffe-related texts each written by a different european author.

 

The publication/newspaper we designed contained all the transcripts from the 18 countries who participated in this project and it was spread throughout Vienna one week before and during the event. The newsprint was carefully designed and printed in two colors (black and gold), it was (re)placed daily on each table of the 9 cafe's. The newsprint was the only promotional element there was and people were so intrigued by it that they filled up all the cafe's on the 1st of October.
