Building and Assembly Guides of Small Wood Stoves

Technical Illustrations for Instruction Manual
Building and Assembly guides of small wood stoves
The objetive of this project was to create a set of clear and easy-to-understand manuals that provide instructions for building efficient and affordable small stoves for low resource people living in rural Nepali areas. These stoves were designed to replace the traditional open fires used for cooking and heating small rooms or tents, which are harmful to people, their homes, and the environment due to wood scarcity.

These manuals will be distributed for free with blacksmiths and villagers in the area by a non-profit organization, while also helping them source the cheapest materials available, encouraging them to recycle parts when possible. The manuals were designed to be accessible even to those without access to building videos, allowing them to build the stoves completely from scratch. By providing clear instructions and pictures, the organization will be able to help people in rural areas improve their living conditions and reduce their impact on the environment.
For the designing of the guides, the client provided building process and usability videos created by a blacksmith so according to this the next challenges needed to be solved.

1. Follow the exact step on the videos breaking them down into easy to follow and uderstand.
2. Create illustrations clear as posible so the images deliver a realistic representation of the parts and their relation
3. Guarantee the comunication is explicit and linear, that way the building process follow a logical order avoinding that people might place a certain part in the wrong place or direction

Designing the building an assebly guides

Staring with a 3D model makes it easier to comprehend the complex building process and creates resources in a flexible way. It not only helps in understanding the different steps involved in the building process but also provides a comprehensive overview of each component and how it relates to the whole structure. In essence, each part of the building becomes a complete project in itself and shows how all the pieces fit together. This helps to ensure that every aspect of the project is fully understood and accounted for before construction begins.
Additionally, the 3D model allows for the creation of highly realistic illustrations that depict how the building will look once completed, making it immensely helpful for people who may have trouble envisioning the final product.

The first two pages provide a complete view of all the parts needed for the whole project and an exploded view to give an overall reference of how the parts relate to each other. This serves as a reference for the building process and is available to review when needed.

Finally, the completed guide is delivered for review, and once it is accepted, it is ready to be printed.
Note: I only designed the guides. Therefore, the small wood designs are not mine. All credit goes to the owner.
