In this issue we focus on »Bars & Drinks« and present all kinds of remarkable solutions. A London bar that takes its inspirations from Punk and mathematical theories. An Australian studio, that combines elegance and coolness and an illustrator, who knows, how to put a smile on your face. Grafikmagazin 01.23 takes you on a journey from Berlin and São Paulo to Taipeh and let's you discover great designs for drinks and bars.

In our design & research section we explain, why graphic design is not innocent and talk to the authors of »Visualizing Complexity«, a book on information design. Our focus »design education« invites professors and students, theorists and practitioners to discuss todays design education.

To complete your design education Quim Marin would suggest to spent as much time abroad as possible. In our showroom section we present the work of this very mobile Spaniard. Sascha Bente on the other hand stays true to his great love – typography. Rafal Kwiczor creates charming retro world and the Swiss are still a very happy people. At least when it comes to design. We take a look at the new and very remarkable Swiss passport.

And as always there’s lots more to be discovered, type design and articles on design & research and some brilliant photography.

The cover

This cover is not only nice to look at, it also feels great. We used letterpress printing, which creates a subtle 3-D effect and a paper with cotton fibres. A cool illustration by Steve Gavan makes this cover perfect.
