Boom
Boom is a recreation of a short film "The Far Sound" showing the preparation of war and an explosion.
It responds to a challenge, which is to transform the original content into a maximum 2 minutes video with a completely different meaning and style through the re-imaging and re-cutting of the material in the film and remixing separate soundtracks. The challenge has two limitations. One is the video can use only basic cutting and transitions such as: fade to black, fade to white, cut, crossfade. Another is that can not apply audio filters or other alterations beyond the basic adjustment of levels and envelopes.
I can learn from the original video that the use of sound signals in war and its important role, which causes me to think about what are the standards for using technology and who can set these standards. Therefore, I chose the war and the explosion as the theme of my remix video.
In order to situate my work within that context, I chose all of the scenes about fighting, preparation of the war and the explosion from the original video. The hue of most scenes is light red, which responses to the emotional tone of the video.
