I have a strong passion in organizing visual elements. My ability to create art works in traditional media is exceptionally proficient since I have received both classical art training and contemporary art practice throughout my years of study. I have been a routine practitioner of Chinese calligraphy, western traditional drawing and painting since 6th grade. My knowledge on traditional media such as oil, watercolor, gouache, ink, graphite and charcoal comes from years of dedicated training.
My major in visual art and my graduate study in contemporary art enable me to quickly link a visual representation to its origin. Therefore I will have a much deeper understanding of visual elements than most people. In addition, my international background enriches my aesthetics with both order and organicity. I appreciate the simplicity of the logical visual language created by designers like Massimo Vignelli and Kenya Hara and at meantime my blood will be stirred violently as I encounter the explosion of visual elements organized together by designers such as Tadanori Yokoo and David Carson. Thus I believe my wide appreciation of visual languages will grant me a higher flexibility in solving various designing tasks.
Lastly and most importantly, I have a deep faith in design. I believe that the pursuit of visual enjoyment is one of the basic needs of human beings. For me the excitement of being in complete creative freedom within a two-dimensional space is incommensurable; and being able to bring people visual pleasure is utterly satisfying. Ultimately my passion is the key to my devotion with which I will eventually become excellent in anything I do.
