The Making Of - The Aston Martin DB5 (1963)

Loaded a 3DS file as is and gave it all a default mid-dark grey matte texture. Now I'll build up the textures and add some more detail.
First experimentation with a silver blue metallic reflective paint.
A matte silver finish.
Worked on the Front Lights & Bumper
Grills, metal trim, rubber seals & Aston Martin badge added.
Few more pieces for the exterior, then wheels and interior to complete
Rear angle. First test render on brake lights etc
Testing out some interior leather textures
Finalising the glass materials for the front headlights
I've never really worked on an interior for a car before. This model is not very detailed so I just plan on getting the textures right so that it can be viewed from all angles outside of the car looking in.
Rims are done and the interior is halfway there. Playing with glass materials for the windows but the scene is mostly grey so reflections aren't there yet.
Base experimental textures done.
Another angle
Experimental paint material
Completed the interior minus the gauges. Glass seems to have a double reflection.
New glass from the headlight covers. The previous blue glass altho it did have a nice blue hue to it, it also seemed to disappear at certain angles. This glass looks more like the original glass material.
Some quick outdoor HDRI map renders on a basic road surface material. I've never rendered a car out side of a studio environment before. WIll have to work out how to setup backplates with HDRI's in Cinema 4D but have them render correctly in Maxwell Render
Started working on the tyres. Tread is very simple geometry so I may need to swap out the tyres with another model.
A slight aged look. Need to find or create a more appropriate bump map for the tyre details/branding etc.
Cars almost complete. Need to complete the number plate, make some final tweaks to a few metal textures and then add the dials to the dashboard
Putting together a full CG scene without a HDR image. So far a grass field on an open road. The camera in this shot is rigged to the car which is driving down the road creating a realistic motion blur. Problem is the field is too uniform. Needs some variation to it.
Test studio scene with simple emitter material on rectangle to light the scene.
Same as the previous render except I'm using HDR images on the rectangles rather then solid emitter materials.
Added disks and calipers to each wheel, created a mesh material for the body scoops, added some screws and re-textured the tyres.
Added some gauges to the dashboard (few more to go), updated the number plates (altho I'm leaning towards the previous ones now) and finalised some of the interior textures. Almost ready to create some compositions for final renders.
Experiment with Wheel materials
Working on the final studio renders this week so nothing new to show. Thought I'd upload a sneak peak at the final studio scene.
