Joined what was then the top digital agency in Malaysia fresh out of college. Grew and learned alongside the agency as digital advertising technology rapidly evolved and digital grew from being almost an afterthought into the indispensable medium it is today.
Honed my skills directly under one of Malaysia’s most respected (and demanding) digital practitioners. My abilities grew rapidly, especially during a two-year period between 2002 and 2003 when I was the only copywriter working with 6 designers. I had to constantly and rapidly switch gears between different accounts as I ideated with and wrote copy for my design-based colleagues.
I have created great work that won the considerable number of awards and new businesses Arachnid accumulated over my 11 years there. And I rose steadily through the ranks, finally being promoted to Head of Creative in January 2006.
In my time there, I have worked on every digital project imaginable – from banner ads to major websites to Facebook games. I have trained talented creative people. I have grown in my ability to write, ideate, present, manage my team, manage clients and craft awards submissions.
Major brands: Ford, Toyota, Maybank, DiGi, Maxis, Celcom, Mead Johnson, HSBC, BMW, MINI, Air Asia, MAS.
I built a strong foundation at Arachnid, and finally left because I felt my personal growth had stagnated. I struck out to seek (and find) more things to learn, more ways to grow and even greater achievements.

Hired to build up digital competencies in a very traditional ATL agency.
Grew in understanding of the workings of an ATL agency, strategic thinking and deck-building. Also developed proficiency in inter-department diplomacy as I was the bridge between ATL and digital teams.
Built a strong team almost from scratch. Within about a year of joining the 200-strong Grey Group KL, we were already the best-performing team at the Kancil Awards.
Major brands: Maybank, Pantene (regional), Guinness Anchor Berhad.

Offered the position of ACD at APD (then known as Next Digital) but declined to retain my present title of Creative Group Head. I wanted to be closer to the action.
Shifted focus from an obsession with metals to an obsession with making work that matters; that makes my clients and my team the talk of town.
Played a key role in building the agency up from a headcount of just 15 to almost 100 between 2013 and 2017. In that time, we have won major accounts, received recognition at local and international awards shows and created work that got people buzzing.
In 2016, I assumed the title of ACD, leading a team of about 30. I managed, mentored and ensured quality, on top of continuing to produce work hands-on. As creative lead, I was also the conduit tying strategic thinking with creative magic, ensuring that our work was not just impactful but also aligned with clients’ goals.
In a small capacity, I was also responsible for building and maintaining relationships between the agency and some of our biggest clients.
Major brands: Maxis, Hotlink, Toyota, Anmum, Anlene, Anchor, F&N, Magnum 4D.

A desire to move countries led me to an opportunity to join APD's head office in Singapore. Here I am partnered with the design-based Creative Director in Singapore. Our task is to provide creative and copy leadership both in Singapore and to APD regionally. We are also responsible for growing the relatively small creative team in Singapore. And of course, to produce kick-ass work.
I am doing more regional work for clients across Asia Pacific. There are new things to learn and fresh challenges to take on. Life is good.
