Viwe Mfaku comes from Butterworth a small town in Eastern Cape. He spent his week days in this small community having stayed in most of its residential areas and spent his weekends in the green rural area of Kentane closely with nature and the Xhosa farmers way of life. When he is not engaged in the wonder of the immersive desktop interface he is fully engaged in the real world absorbed in conversation with the outliers, because of his belief in open harmony. This makes him encouraging and often influences change and growth in advertising at Ogilvy & Mather Cape Town in the Redworks Studio, where he is committed as Digital Art Director.

Having worked under Brian Mthongana at the Woolworths Studio instilled his love for typography. Now working at Ogilvy & Mather saw a challenge that would propel some exciting work. Under the mentorship of Nick Wittenberg, Fred Cillars & Sabine Heckman he got the opportunity to work with international brands such as Audi and Volkswagen.

He is making investments creatively in startups like Kwezi Comics Working closely with Loyiso Mkize and Clyde Beech, As well as Indalo Décor and is constantly in the exercise of practising consistent forward motion as a co-founder of Ona Ark. He creates his own world under ZebraCow where another layer of his identity is expressed through illustration and design.

His digital muscle is constantly being exercised and has him awarded in one of the top three in the 2014 GovHack Hackathon, this and the Lean startup Methodology with mentorship from Allen Jaffe has enriched his work with clients like SC Johnson, Kiwi, Castrol, The Mandela Rhodes Place, Vodacom, BP & GNC.

He has a tenacity that is honest to his name, and he is heard through a strong visual language in he does. He wishes to grow and learn making an impact within Africa and abroad in solution driven design. Read Less
