Art on the Atlanta Beltline - A talk about my mural process
A chat about my mural process for the STORYBOX mural project for Art on the Atlanta Beltline.
STORYBOX is a mural project created for Atlanta BeltLine being installed on the Westside Trail at Ralph David Abernathy & Cascade.
The mural explores the idea of "HOME" and features portraits of men who have lived in, thrived in and contributed to the vibrancy and legacy of Westside ATL. It will include an aspect of storytelling to share the voices and experiences of those with a long-history in the area.
Each Adinkra symbol has a meaning.
Fihankra (the square shape) is an enclosed or secured compound house. It is a symbol of brotherhood, safety, security, completeness, and solidarity.
Sankofa (the heart shape) is a reminder to retrieve the lessons from the past to use them to achieve our future goals.
Adinkrahene (the circle shape) is a symbol of greatness and leadership.
Each of these symbols was chosen because I wanted to explore the idea of HOME as it relates to the ever-changing westside neighborhoods in Atlanta, Georgia.

I wanted to share something with you. I am working on a project with art on the Atlanta Beltline and I am in the process and what that means is that they hey Gareth, how are you?
