I am an award winning Art Director with over 27 years experience providing creative services for the Film, Television, Special Event, and Entertainment Industries.
My background covers all aspects of the entertainment industry, from set construction, painting, and scenic design, to project management, directing, and live stage performance. I’m a creative thinker, and have designed and built scenery for theme parks, movies, national TV commercials, business theater, the military, special events, and music videos.
I can hand draft, am proficient in 3-D computer rendering for pre-visualizing, and work really fast. Scenic carpentry, faux painting, prop making, and conceptualizing, are a few of my professional skills. I manage projects with a keen understanding of crew dynamics and tight production deadlines and am adept at developing projects that work aesthetically for the production, but are practical for time constraints and budget considerations.

I am responsible for creating the physical, visual appearance of the sets, locations, and props, of any production, and managing large and small crews of artists and craftspeople. I work as a team player and closely oversee the aesthetic and textural details of sets as they are realized and have successfully managed hundreds of both small and large project budgets ranging from $5,000 to $450,000 without compromising the desired production goals, aesthetics, and crew resources. I have never missed a deadline or gone over budget.
Set Design
Create 3-D concept renderings and 2-D technical illustrations and graphics for client presentations and pre-visualization purposes. I also create detailed construction drawings, material lists, color palettes, and vendor lists. Able to export DXF files for CNC machines and vector art for graphic plotters, sign shops, etc.

Develop and manage unique casino-wide and hotel based special events and promotions for casinos with the goal of creating outstanding guest experiences and increasing revenue. Oversee all aspects of events and promotions from show and event development, planning, marketing, and execution.
Improved all aspects of on stage promotions at Barona Resort & Casino, stage design, script writing, and music selection to create a more entertaining and enjoyable guest experience, and won13 Romero Awards for a variety of casino-resort events and promotions.

42 Entertainment - TRON - Legacy
Brought together a crew of painters to paint a metallic finish on a promotional set, duplicating the End Of The Line Club set used in the Disney movie TRON - Legacy. Researched specific matching finishes and consulted with the producer and solved a variety of production issues.
42 Entertainment - Alice In Wonderland Tour (International Touring Exhibit)
Successfully teamed with a scenic crew from London to quickly locate, manage, and coordinate an emergency team of scenic artists to repair and re-faux finish the Alice in Wonderland International Touring exhibit for a surprise viral marketing campaign with director Tim Burton at the San Diego Comi-Con. Up and ready for all to see on time and on budget.
Tony Hawk, Inc. - Huck Jam Bikes (National Spot)
Designed and built the sets and mechanical robots with a small crew of scenic arts craftsman in 6 days with a very small budget. I had my crew make good use of on location materials and harvested parts from local salvage yards and surplus stores to create a great set, some cool robots, and a very happy client!
Disco Abs with Cheryl Burke - (Exercise Video)
I designed this set in 3 days and it was constructed by an outside crew in 10. It’s good example of how a 3-D rendering can help everyone involved pre-visualize the final look of the production. I also created the construction drawings, materials list, color palette, and vendor list for the crew, as well as solved minor material availability issues during construction.
AMC Theaters Lobby Ceiling Art - Ontario, CA
AMC Theaters asked me to design and create these three very large (20’ diameter) science fiction themed pieces for three lobbies at their new AMC 30 Plex in Ontario, California. “Death Star Window”, “Moon”, and “2001”. Construction of all three pieces was an intense two weeks with an installation window of only 3 days.
Temecula Children’s Museum - Imagination Workshop
Sparks Exhibits hired me as a prop specialist to work with a team of exhibit builders in creating all the wacky props and decor for this children’s museum. I designed, conceptualized and built all of the original props and decor, including time travel books, time machines, back story newspapers, and dozens of imaginative, whacky, high concept “inventions”.
In 2009 it Won Nickelodeon’s “Parent’s Picks” Award for Best Museum!
Music Videos
I’ve worked on a dozen music videos, and the approach to being an art director on these is much the same as any other production, yet slightly different. Music videos have a free flowing and interpretive sense of style about them, with a lot of artistic edge to every shot. The director is setting an emotion and interpreting a song, and it’s my job to help him see his music and feel the emotion through the composition of the set elements as well as make sure his subjective vision is conveyed as universally as possible.
