A film production company based out of Burbank, California, Tanner Films specializes in telling stories about important problems that affect young people today. Founded by eighteen-year-old filmmaker Michael Tanner Cusumano, the company has released four motion pictures since 2008. As the writer, director, and producer of each of these films, Mr. Cusumano views the filmmaking process as an outlet for investigating his own hopes and fears while operating within the narrative framework of a traditional storyteller. He has been making movies since signing up for the New York Film Academy’s summer workshop at the age of 12.

In addition to the New York Film Academy, Michael Tanner Cusumano currently studies film through the Summer Cinematic Arts Program offered by the University of Southern California. Mr. Cusumano is also involved in film studies at his high school in Chatsworth, California. He completed the school’s yearlong Elements of Film course and successfully organized its first annual film festival in May 2011. He continues to curate the Sierra Canyon School Film Festival to this day.

Tanner Films productions have been widely screened at local, regional, national, and international film festivals. Motion picture events from Burbank to Mexico to Amsterdam have recognized the merits of these productions with a variety of awards and distinctions. Tanner Films’s latest release, Impetuous, tackles the issue of teenage bullying through an absorbing story of love and infatuation. The film played at festivals throughout the United States in 2012. In 2011, the Canada International Film Festival honored Tanner Films and Michael Tanner Cusumano with their annual Rising Star Award. Read Less
