With more than 20 years’ industry experience, developer Scott Fish is known throughout the Southeastern United States for his creative workout solutions to difficulties faced by developers, financiers, and owners with troubled assets. The Principal of UP Development, a premier retail developer located in Franklin, Tennessee, Scott Fish manages a wide range of development, workout, and expansion projects, and has successfully designed and developed retail shopping centers based around some of the country’s leading national retailers. A native of Michigan and a graduate of Ferris State University in Big Rapids, Fish named UP Development after his childhood home in Michigan’s Upper Peninsula.

Fish’s development philosophy emphasizes that the desire to find a successful solution can overcome any number of obstacles. This attitude lies behind some of UP Development’s biggest achievements, such as the recently completed Shoppes at Alafaya Trail project in Florida. Development of this 275,000-square-foot retail center had been stalled for several years and was facing significant pending litigation until UP took over and turned around the project, completely redesigning and developing the property. As much as possible, UP Development and Scott Fish focus on redeveloping or expanding existing infrastructure and buildings, rather than constantly creating new developments which can easily lead to suburban sprawl.

Beyond his professional activities, Scott Fish is an active community member and a proud supporter of local causes, groups, and events. An enthusiastic hockey fan, he purchased, expanded, and donated Franklin’s Southern Ice Arena, known as A-Game Sportsplex, for use by school teams. He is a strong supporter of the Franklin Police Department and the Boys and Girls Club, and sponsors various college scholarships for Franklin students. Read Less
