Rosa Tato is currently based in Melbourne, Australia. Tato has most recently created artworks for Wyndham City, and Lorne Sculpture Biennale.

In 2011, City of Melbourne funded an exciting collaborative project where she has worked with newly arrived refugees from Eritrea, Ethiopia, Somalia & other culturally diverse community groups at North Melbourne Housing Commission. The work, is already playing on the idea of working with the past, and giving back something rich in history to the environment at the housing tower – a visual outcome in a public space. 'Embracing Distance' is a 30 metre community collaborative sculpture inflected with motifs that resonate with various cultural groups.

In 2006, Tato was the recipient of an artist-in-residence research grant in Shanghai of RMIT School of Art. The research culminated in a body of work that has since been exhibited at Methodist Ladies College Biennial Acquisitive Exhibition, RMIT University Gallery & NEM Art Summit, Barcelona, Spain in 2010.

In the same year she was commissioned to create a public artwork at the entrance of the VIP Teak Room. Tato was also the recipient of the Australia Council for the Arts’ ArtStart Grant.

Recent exhibitions & projects include public art commission in Wyndham City at Saltwater Community Centre (2015/16), exhibitions at City Library as part of the Women's Art Register's celebrations (2015), Lorne Sculpture Biennale (2016), Natimuk Biennale (2016) Gertrude Street Projection Festival, Conduit Arts (2013); NGV Studio (2012).

Tato specialises in Private & Commercial site specific commissions/projects, Public Art, Installation Art, Community Arts/Collaboration, & VIP interpreting in the Arts (Spanish).
