Every work has its own starting point. Some portraits appeal to me for the sheer gesture captured while others are iconic figures that represent a lot of ideas, events, histories and philosophies. But while it is fascinating to mix and match characters and ideas that cater to the humor of the work and entertain the viewer, what really excites me is to combine different media. One may think in terms of the purity of the media but I see the challenge in how one image relates with another and an ambiguity is created wherein one cant tell where one medium ends and another begins.
