My work is ultimately about a personal journey and a reinvention of self. It often reflects the contrasting aspects of two worlds, the one I left behind, and the one I am in the process of creating.

I have always regarded the act of painting as a conduit to the creator. Call it what you like: meditation, therapy, or prayer – in translating my experience through paint, I am able to unearth something of my place within nature, and to recognize my importance within the unity or harmony of things.

My subjects and interests are varied yet of equal importance; still life, figure, and landscape separately or together have their own poignancy and significance in my metamorphosis. Still life reflects my obsession with the intimate things that describe an individual’s life. Landscape can be viewed as a metaphor for my personal journey, and figure/portrait painting reflects my deep and abiding interest in the mysteries that make us who we are.
