As the dean of a preeminent school of business, Judy Olian has been a committed advocate for women in business. The first woman to serve as dean of the Smeal College of Business at Penn State University, of UCLA Anderson School of Management, and as acting dean at the University of Maryland’s RHSmith College of Business, Judy Olian is staunchly committed to supporting the career successes of women, and to encouraging more women to enroll in business schools. She is a champion of female role models in her own school, serves on the advisory board of Catalyst – the leading think tank for women in business – and is engaged in important policy discussions to support the advancement of women in the marketplace including a recent White House summit on this important issue. She speaks frequently on the subject to broad audiences at national and international events, and has served on the board of Marymount High School in Los Angeles because of her belief in the importance of an early start to launching the career paths of high potential women.

During Olian’s tenure as dean of UCLA Anderson, she launched several new innovative degree programs, expanded the global portfolio of educational programs for senior executives including programs targeted at emerging female leaders, initiated new online learning models, grew student applications and enrollments significantly, and more than doubled the school’s endowment.
