Venezuelan Visual Artist, Graphic Designer and Architect with powerful skills for developing ideas for communication and expression projects. His wide experience in professional artistic work as well as a researcher and educator of graphical techniques for more than ten years, provides him with a deep knowledge when approaching art and design projects. He specializes in image design for illustration, advertising and conceptual work. As an artist, he focuses on the city as a laboratory for aesthetic collective experiences, approached from paintings, sculptures or installations. He has special interest in the power of the concept in the visual project, and how it can be developed through team work.
Some thoughts: Art and design are cultural products in constant change. Targets are dynamic, so are communication and expression. Thoughts are first and images come next, but intuition plays an important role in a cultured creator Inspiration is important, so are deadlines
Skills: Drawing and painting graphical techniques such as pencil, watercolor, oil, acrylics, crayons, airbrush. Also Adobe Photoshop, InDesign and Illustrator. Basic knowledge on: Adobe Dreamweaver
Professional Experience: As an artist, has shown his work (since 1982 to present) in more than ten solo shows and in more than forty collective exhibitions in Venezuela, France and the United States, from which there can be mentioned: 55th Salon de Mai, Paris, France in 2010, Salon Grands et Jeunes Dádjourd´hui in 2002, Proximity, ARC Gallery, Chicago in 2007, among others.
As a graphic designer, he worked for CORIMON a holding of 25 enterprises in Caracas-Venezuela (1992–1996) designing national and international exhibition stands. From 1997 to present, has worked for individuals and small companies in Venezuela as well as for Northern Illinois University and for Universidad de Los Andes in institutional projects.
As an educator and researcher, he has been appointed for several positions, such as aggregate professor of Graphic Design, Graphical Techniques (including illustration) at Universidad de Los Andes in Merida-Venezuela (1998 - 2010). He also worked as assistant professor of Drawing and Composition at the School of Architecture of Universidad Simon Bolivar in Caracas-Venezuela (1992-1996). He has lectured at Seminars on architecture, art, semiotics and aesthetics, and has published some works at important journals in Venezuela. He has also been Chair of the Department of Visual Arts and Graphic Design, as well as Director of the school of art of Universidad de Los Andes, since 1998 through 2010. Currently, he is teaching Spanish to undergraduate students at the University of Western Ontario in London, Canada.
