With more than two decades of aviation experience, David Pflieger is currently serving as an advisor to the World Bank Group in Washington, DC assisting them and a government in Africa with the turnaround and privatization of a national carrier.

Prior to the World Bank Group, David was the CEO of Island Air, Hawaii. Among his responsibilities as Managing Director, David focused on establish a strong Corporate Social Responsibility program, and improve their impact on the environment and communities.

In his previous position as CEO and Managing Director of Air Pacific, Ltd, David orchestrated a significant corporate turnaround of the $290 million company, which stands as Fiji's National Airline, operating 15 aircrafts and employing more than 900 personnel.

David Pflieger has extensively restructured Air Pacific fleet networks and operational components, developing a new management team in the process. These efforts have increased year-over-year revenues by 7 percent and reduced costs by 8 percent. Bringing in $200 million in funding has enabled the introduction of DH-6 Twin Otter and B737-800 aircraft and the scheduled delivery of three new A330-200 aircraft.

Mr. Pflieger began his career with the U.S. Air Force as a B-52 Instructor Pilot, subsequently serving as C-130 Aircraft Commander with the Pennsylvania Air National Guard. During his time in the latter position, he earned an MBA and Juris Doctor at Emory University in Atlanta.

In 1997, David Pflieger accepted responsibilities as Associate Attorney with King & Spalding, LLP, focusing on civil and criminal defense litigation cases. The following year, he took a position with Delta Air Lines as Operations Attorney and B737 Pilot, responsible for all aspects of operations-related legal and compliance issues. Over a three-year period, he successfully resolved more than 300 cases, notably directing defense strategies in FAA and DOT regulatory investigations and claims, and in passenger injury claims and lawsuits.

From 2002 to 2004, David Pflieger served as Vice President, Operations with Song - Delta Air Lines. He then moved on to Virgin America, Inc., serving for six years as Senior Vice President and General Counsel of Legal & Government Affairs.
