Unemployed War photographer.

Hi and welcome to my section all about me –Andrew Chittock As I don't have commissions from 'A' list magazines or have won any top awards and if I was to be killed in some far off land ,no one would be the wiser. This might sound sad but it is the way I like it.

My summers are spent mostly here at home in Wales, photographing weddings and working in the studio. This will them pay for a trip or two in the winter enabling me to do what I crave. As the great Robert Capa said 'I hope to stay unemployed as a war photographer till the end of my life....'
.
I was born in Lichfield on 26th May 1956. My father and mother were both in the
Army and I was a typical army brat. I left Llandovery College in 1973
I went straight into the Welsh Guards where I spent the next 20 years serving Queen
And Country. It was here in my last five years in the Welsh Guards that my photography
Career started.
I was stationed in Germany with the Battalion and during a scheduled boxing match
against the Scots Guards the Commanding Officer saw me with a camera and asked if
I would take a variety of shots of the match. From that day on I was the new unit
Photographer. That’s how things are done in the army!
When I left the Battalion in 1993 with all the army photo courses under my belt,
I was decided that I wanted to take photography up as a full time career so with
A lot of hard work and dedication I became a freelance photographer.
I have had work published in ;- Sunday Times, Sunday Telegraph, Sunday express, the Sun, Telegraph, times, Independent, Observer, FHM, GQ, numbers books and publication, also I run my own military stock library . Read Less
