Neil Dhillon is a graduate of The American University in Washington, DC, where he earned his Bachelor of Arts degree in political science. He served California Congressman Bob Matsui as his Chief of Staff and later served in the Clinton Administration. Neil has been the managing director at two Washington, DC consulting firms, and is currently with NA Consulting Services. His vast array of professional experiences have taken him to Washington D.C. to Capitol Hill to the private sector. What he has prided himself on, especially towards the latter part of his career, is his idea of Thought Leadership. You can read more in his portfolio, but overall the idea behind it is having strong, prominent leaders who lead teams through provoking ideas and thoughts. When you have that powerful voice, your team is much more likely to listen. When you set the standard, he says, people are more likely to be inspired themselves. He uses this philosophy in his current work as a Consultant in Washington. As a lobbyist and political strategist, he still uses his knowledge from 30+ years in the field, in a field that is constantly changing. He remains positive relationships, bi-partisan and business oriented, with dozens of people in Congressional and White House positions.
Some of his accomplishments in his professional life are as follows. When he was Chief of Staff to Congressman Bob Matsui, he assisted in getting the Congressman reelected on two separate occasions. He started in 1988 at a very young age, and was noticed immediately for his quick wit and determination. Neil managed the Congressman's reelection campaigns with ease, and secured victories both in 1990 and 1992. This is when Neil was not only noticed, but admired for his political prowess. President Bill Clinton recognized it primarily and hired Neil to be one of his Senior Aides. In a speech during his presidency, Clinton mentioned Neil as one of his top aides and what blessing he has been for the president. Further, Neil was granted an award for being the top Asian-American appointee in the White House. His tenure with the president lasted two years until he moved into the private sector, leading high up teams and growing into powerful positions of leadership. He now spends his time consulting and spending as much time with his family as possible. Read Less
