NOMA* is a architecture, public realm and interiors practice based in Perth, Western Australia. The practice was established by Simon Venturi in 2012 after twelve years experience working for leading architectural practices within the design, detailing, administration and delivery of large commercial projects. Simon now leads a small team working on a diverse range of innovative small to medium size public, commercial, retail and multi-residential projects delivering quality built outcomes. NOMA* was recently recognised with a Commendation for its Standby Espresso project in the AIA WA Architecture Awards 2016 Small Project Architecture category. Read Less

Born 1977, Simon completed a Bachelor of Applied Science [Architectural Science] and a Bachelor of Architecture [Honours] graduating in 2000 from Curtin University. Working for a number of leading architectural firms including Cox Howlett + Bailey Woodland, Jones Coulter Young as well as Buchan Group Perth as a design and project architect over a period of twelve years, Simon gained experience in all phases of public, commercial, retail as well as multi residential projects ranging in size from $1M to $75M.

Amongst others Simon delivered a quality outcome on the Sorrento Quay Boardwalk, Breakwater Tavern, Retail and Bascule Bridge project [$17M, CH+BW, 2008] at Hillary's Boat Harbour. This project involved complex construction over water as well as co-ordination of a large consultant and stakeholder group and received a number of awards from the Australian Institute of Architects, Property Council of Australia and Master Builders Association. He obtained his registration from the Architects Board of Western Australia [No. 2203] in 2008 and completed a government funded Master of Architecture [by research] in the Urban Architecture Laboratory at RMIT University in Melbourne 2011. This research focused on developing practical strategies encouraging shared community use of public space.

Simon is an A+ member of the Australian Institute of Architects, sits on the Architects Accreditation Council of Australia APE Examination Panel, City of Vincent Design Advisory Committee, City of Vincent Arts Advisory Group and Australian Institute of Architects WA Awards Jury. As well as being highly organised, capable of leading large consultant teams, Simon maintains a high level of attention to detail and brings 16 years experience to the design, detailing and administration of complex architectural projects. Simon established NOMA* [formerly NOMAD ink studio] in 2012 and is currently working on a diverse range of public, commercial, retail and residential projects delivering quality built outcomes.
