As a child of two Tom Ridinger was carried off from his ancestral home of Gettysburg, Pennsylvania to the less hallowed ground of Concord, North Carolina and Levittown, New York. After escaping a college in the midwest he crash landed in New York City where he reincarnated as art director, photographer and photo editor for various magazines. He was cofounder of the original Camera Arts magazine, winner of The National Magazine Award and considered by many to have been the best consumer photography magazine ever published in the U.S. Walking away from Ground Zero dusted by the collapsing reality of who he’d been all his life, he chose to return to the quest which brought him to New York in the first place: creating narrative images as painters would, using the aesthetics and methods of their medium but the tools of photography.
