Our mission at map creative is to pursue great ideas, beautiful design and honest and clear communications for the positive improvement of our clients’ objectives, while upholding community values. I am responsible for upholding this vision as well as managing the studio, team development, creative strategies and design, and brand management.

Shillington aims to create a new kind of graphic design education to better prepare graduates for the working world. We operate like a design studio – focusing on positive culture, design thinking and the most relevant technical skills to our current industry. I'm surrounded by passionate and talented junior designers (my students) and some of the best senior designers and art directors (my colleagues).

As Chair of the AGDA Queensland branch, my mission is to engage, connect, celebrate and grow the Queensland design community. AGDA is the peak national organisation representing the Australian graphic design industry. With more than 2,600 members distributed throughout the creative, visual communications, applied design and technology sectors, it is dedicated to advancing the profession through an interrelated program of state, national and international activities in education, advocacy and professional development.

I developed concepts to meet in-house and external clients’ needs which were translated into effective and engaging digital and print campaigns. Digital experience includes UI design, eDM (enewsletter) design and creation, content management, animated advertising, and more. Print experience includes custom publishing, large format signage, branding, collateral, and more. I liaised regularly with the business manager, studio and client services manager as well as editorial and sales teams.

I oversaw and contributed to the digital and print design needs of The Weekend Edition, which delivers Brisbane’s local weekend lifestyle news and events with a touch of global goodness. Graphic designer and typesetter for Eco Brides Magazine, an online eco wedding magazine published biannually. In addition to the magazine, I was also responsible for branding the Eco Wedding Fair, a new event hosted by Eco Brides Magazine. This involved logo development, web graphics, web design (HTML5 & CSS3), wordpress / CMS / content management, media releases, print collateral, etc.

Graphic designer and typesetter for the biannual "Australian Poetry Journal". Responsible for design, typesetting and pre-press of two issues, including cover art and approximately 144 pages of prose and poetry.

I managed the in-house design team and supervised all design production stages from concept to pre-press. I achieved high pressure deadlines while executing multiple projects simultaneously. Projects included large-scale banners, print collateral, web graphics, eDMs (e-newsletters), packaging, branding, etc. I consulted directly with the brand manager, printers and international suppliers.

A course about ideas, creative thinking and the processes involved in coming up with great ideas and ultimately good ads.

This course focused on hand coding in Adobe Dreamweaver using HTML5 (fundamentals) and CSS3 (fundamentals, typography, buttons, navigation, layout, etc.). I gained an understanding and experience of web fonts, responsive design, SEO, as well as accessibility best practice.
