I am a founder, developer and multidisciplinary designer. I have co-founded five companies, invested in, managed and grown a further four. One failed, two pivoted and all have contributed to a unique experience:
Since graduating with a first class degree from the Bartlett School of Architecture, UCL I have been living, building and creating in the megalopolis of Chongqing, Southwest China.
I learnt to speak Chinese. I opened an architecture studio. I established an international summer intern programme.
Two years later I founded a business incubator. I launched Chongqing’s first co-working office space. I bought and revived a food import business. I started an online China-focused magazine and helped create a lifestyle guide for Chinese cites. Most recently I developed a new English language training school & drama-based curriculum.
I have undertaken and accomplished more than many thought possible in this often hostile business environment. In doing so I have struggled, led, followed, delegated, persevered, accepted failure and succeeded.
I am analytical, fearless and skilful. I have learnt much of passion and determination throughout my education and business experience and now I am looking for a new challenge in a new company, where I can utilise what I know and continue learning what I do not.
Role: I spearheaded the launch and opening of PriestmanArchitects’ China office. I led the design of museums, skyscrapers and master planning. I handled government and client relations and learnt to negotiate in a rapidly changing business environment - sometimes the hard way.
Achieved: I established Chongqing’s first foreign owned architecture studio and built a profitable, lasting business in an extremely competitive market.
