Claudia is a multi-disciplinary visual artist with a background in advertising, art direction, graphic design, and an interest in site specific and conceptual work. Inspiration comes from popular culture, industrial design, fashion, communication and the natural world. Claudia is also an active community volunteer, and is interested in cultural development.

Work Experience

City Of Calgary Public Art

Artist – Tuscany LRT Station Community Cultural Development

Claudia was chosen to work with GO Collaborative and Legge Lewis Legge, a Texas and New York based artist team, on a series of community art making events for the Tuscany LRT Station Community Cultural Development Public Art Project. The project was commissioned by the City of Calgary Public Art Program and The Transportation Department for the new Tuscany LRT Station in northwest Calgary, and will be completed in Summer 2017.

Recently completed and installed a 4’ x 16’ mural on two canvas panels, entitled “Heading West” for a local hair salon. The work incorporates Calgary’s chinook winds with its urban skyline and inhabitants.

Artist – International Artist Day

2013 was the first year for IAD in Calgary. Collaborated with the City of Calgary’s Public Art Program to create a project consisting of temporary street graphics, a pin-back button collection, and an online presence for the Calgary Chapter of International Artist Day.

Created consumer advertising for clients including Subway, Toyota, Unilever and Enmax.
Highlight: Worked with a talented team of writers and producers to develop a series of TV spots for Toyota that elevated the perceptions of its “trucks” category in the Prairies.

Created TV, print and point-of-purchase advertising for Alberta Ford & Mercury Dealers’ Association. Other projects included catalogue design and art direction for London Drugs.
Highlight: Worked with a talented team of writers and producers to build the Alberta Ford & Mercury Dealers brand. Our series of TV spots and print ads not only increased traffic to the dealerships, but won ad industry awards.

Relevant Experience and Community Engagement

Throughout her professional career, Claudia has also been active in the community on a volunteer basis. Work has ranged from building play structures, to teaching flip book animation. While living in the community of Parkdale, Claudia began an initiative to reopen Parkdale Elementary School. For the last two years, she’s been the Editor in Chief of the Springbank Middle School yearbook – working with the publisher and school business office to establish and maintain the production budget, facilitating concept and design with the student yearbook committee, and coordinating the illustrated and photographic contributions of over 500 students and parent volunteers.
