Forms found in nature provide the source material for much of my gestural abstraction. Working primarily on paper from memory, sketches, and photographs, I make images inspired by my observations of nature’s own drawing-like phenomena and sinuous associations; creating motifs of organic gestures that circulate, cross, entangle, and shapes that gather and separate. Progressing intuitively as I draw or paint, I explore rhythms, semi-patterns, and aggregation. I also have been working with simple grids, and concentric rings to a lesser extent, because I like their inherent associations to organization, mapping, time, and influence. Read Less

I am primarily self taught, but have received some formal art training at Cornish College of the Arts (Seattle, Wash.), Instituto Allende (Mexico), and Green River Community College (Auburn, Wash.). My devotion to painting and drawing remained firm through several years of undergraduate and graduate studies in music, from Seattle to Boston. After returning to Seattle I progressively steered away from music composition, and focused more on art. I have exhibited locally a little, including at Trabant Coffee & Chai and Caffé Vita (both in Pioneer Square), Phinney Neighborhood Center, Bandoleone, Pacific Dessert Company, and continue to pursue other opportunities. Currently my exhibition venues are online via this Behance site, and Saatchi Online. By day I work in graphic design in downtown Seattle. Read Less

These exhibits/projects are ordered chronologically, numbered sequentially, and have not been gathered into curated portfolios, or grouped overall by similar motifs. There are several ideas and gestures I’ve been exploring, but have kept them in their own respective exhibits. If there’s a missing number in the sequence of exhibits it’s because I decided after further consideration that I no longer liked a particular project, and have thus removed it.
