My work focuses itself on internal processes and how these manifest themselves externally. Paradox often plays a silent protagonist within my work. In my work method I approach my subjects from a voyeuristic and researching perspective.

This approach developed itself through the many travels I went on with my parents from a young age; it was a method with which I was able to place myself into the context of a place where I found myself at that moment, wherever I was. By looking closely and asking a lot of questions, there was a sense of understanding and from there grew a sense of control. I no longer needed to be afraid; unfamiliar places, buildings, people and their appearances suddenly became a domain of discovery.

This urge for control, and the removal of fears, manifests itself constantly in my work. It enables me to come closer to my subjects, to isolate them and thus, removing them from the context in which they found themselves originally. This allows me to deeper analyse the subject and have an influence on it. Read Less
