Tahir was born and raised in Nairobi, Kenya until the age of 7 when he and his family moved to the UK due to the volatility in the country.

His interest for computing began in the late 70’s when he started playing computer games, but frustrated by their limitations he decided to learn programming (Assembler).

Tahir studied Computing at Manchester Metropolitan University, with an industrial placement at Loughborough University of Technology’s Computer Human Interface Research Centre (LUTCHI). It was here he was first exposed to “C”/UNIX and worked on image/voice recognition making extensive use of Artificial Intelligence (AI).

In 1989, Microsoft head hunted Tahir and he joined them to become their technical lead in the UK for operating systems & programming languages but with the advent of email he established Microsoft UK’s email (Exchange), work-group and work flow support infrastructure.

After resigning from Microsoft in 1992, he worked for British Telecom’s Syncordia in Atlanta (U.S.A) before returning to the UK to form his own software house, Synentia (formally Synectics).

Synentia’s rapid growth thrust Tahir into management, finance and marketing so he bolstered his knowledge by studying a Diploma in Finance, an MA in Marketing Management and an MSc in Artificial Neural Networks.

Synentia gave Tahir a chance to apply all his academic and professional experience to offer IT services and build products but his greatest achievement was the invention of push email with transparency. Tahir sued Research In Motion (RIM – BlackBerry) in 2010 for stealing his invention.

Tahir’s other love is fashion and he has pursued this industry sector with just as much attention.
