After being impressed with the importance of proper nutrition and lifelong fitness at a young age, Suzan Hughes has succeeded in helping others to maintain healthy lifestyles. Using Jack LaLanne as a mentor, Suzan Hughes began creating her own innovative workouts at the age of 12, and began studying the anatomic effects of vitamins and minerals at 13. Urged on by her precocious fascination with nutrition and fitness, Suzan Hughes continued a vigorous study of anatomy and physiology while simultaneously earning her certification as a court reporter (specializing in medical malpractice) and heading up her own agency.

Together with Mark Hughes, the founder of Herbalife, Suzan Hughes is attributed with catapulting Herbalife into a billion-dollar a year business. In their work directing Herbalife, Mark and Suzan Hughes became known as the world’s preeminent authority on herbal nutrition.
A certified fitness expert by the National Association of Sports Medicine, Suzan Hughes is also the co-founder of the Herbalife Family Foundation. A child advocate and parent of her 14-year-old son, Alexander, Suzan Hughes completed a two year course in parenting from the Resource for Infant Educators (RIE), and served seven years as a Community Circle leader for children in the Beverly Hills School District, teaching self-esteem and the negotiation of feelings in a non-violent way.

Suzan Hughes is heavily involved in the D.A.R.E. program, and has been honored by receiving the D.A.R.E. Future of America Award. Additionally, Suzan is the recipient of the Wallis Annenberg Founders Award from the Southern California Counseling Center, and the Woman of Achievement Award from the Friends of Sheba Medical Center.
