Stanley Colvin earned a law degree from the University of Louisville. He later supplemented his legal education with a master’s in public administration from Harvard University. He has put both of these degrees to use over the course of his career with the United States Department of State. He joined the department in 1999 as an attorney and was promoted to deputy assistant secretary before being assigned by the Department in 2012 to further his education at the National War College and the National Defense University. He studied combating terrorism at the National War College and graduated from the National Defense University with a master’s degree in strategic security studies. Stanley Colvin returned to the U.S. Department of State in 2012 as a senior advisor.

Outside of his work with the American government, Mr. Colvin contributes time and resources to a number of organizations. He formerly served as a board member for the National LGBT Museum and currently serves as an advisory board member for Nyubiani, an AIDS orphanage located in Kenya. Read Less
