“Give me lots of energy and say cream cheese! Now turn slighlty to the right and say chocolate! Okay, that’s great – say teddy bear with a big grin!” My first introduction to advertising was being the naughty red-haired kid in a burger commercial.

Growing up in a family where creativity runs in the genes, I was bound to end up having a passion for creating and coming up with new ideas to solve problems. My grandmother took up painting at 70, my grandfather painted, restored paintings and played the piano, my dad was a Creative Director and my 3 brothers have all found expression in creative careers.

I've always been able to see things in a three dimensional way and been able to work out how to do something before needing to write it down. This passion for creativity was expressed very early on as a little boy by making and selling fudge, and playing the paino. This talent earned a many awards for clients over nearly a decade.

After leaving school triying out a few different jobs like being a studio assistant in design to a gym instuctor and personal trainer. I left S.A. to experience another country. I moved to the UK for 4 years and learned that life was not greener while leaarning valuable life lessons during my time employed in the security industry and in the British Army, Parachute Regiment. Shortly after leaving the army, I was given the opportunity to study in South Africa and of course I chose advertising.

My first Job as a Designer was at a through-the-line agency, where I developed a love for Art Direction, particularly the conceptual side. After 2 years at my first job, the interest in getting international experience and my love of London got me packing to the UK again. While I was in the UK a great opportunity came up in Bahrain which I decided to and explore and expose myself to different ways of thinking.

Whilst overseas, I realised that advertising in South Africa had more opportunities. I have come back home and really settled in South Africa where I have worked for a few great agencies and gained lots of experience. From my passion for printwork I selftought myself in retouching and colour management spending all my spare time learning and improving to the point of being able to do high end retouching.
Settling in South Africa has been good for me, I can now do all the things I love – advertising as a full time job, cooking as a hobby where I like to explore new ways of preparing food and inventing new recipes, and travellling. My wife and I share a love of exploring new places, with Vietnam currently being my favourite destination.
Being creative with many interests, I know that whatever I apply myself to in the future, I'm always going to enjoy finding solutions and coming up with different ways to do something. I have a deep motivation to making a difference in the world.
