Sonja Christoph (aka Sony) is a digital matte painter and concept artist as well as 2nd Assistant Director (DGA) from Berlin, Germany. Sonja moved to the US at the age of 16 where she first attended the University of Miami with a double major in Motion Picture Production and Photography. After graduating with a B.A. she moved to Los Angeles where she was accepted into the Director's Guild-Producer Training Plan. Upon graduating from the program she worked as a 2nd 2nd and Key 2nd Assistant Director on various TV Shows, movies and commercials. In 2009 she was fortunate to work on the Emmy award winning episode of ER "And In The End" which also earned her an honorary certificate from the Academy of Television Arts & Science.Sonja always had the need for a creative outlet whether that was drawing, writing or through her photography. During her career as Assistant Director she found that her ability to be creative was a bit limited and so in 2010 she decided to go back to school. She was accepted into the Digital Production for Entertainment Program at Gnomon School of Visual FX where she focused her studies on matte painting and concept art. During her time there she was able to work on the Gnomon Studios shortfilm "Exoids" as well as intern as a Digital Matte Painter at Stargate Studios. She is expected to graduate in the fall of 2012.
