Roma May Design

Southsea, United Kingdom
I am currently residing in the south coast city of Southsea, Hampshire. I am currently working predominantly as an independent freelance illustrator and designer, working for commercial clients, musicians and bands, fellow creative peers and one off commission pieces. My work is heavily influenced by classic and traditional techniques and artisans, and I find the natural world and organic forms and methods very appealing. My main material and style are noticeable uses of pen and ink, in intensely detailed black-work illustrations. Despite this style, I am equally as interested to take on any form of textile craft or fine art method such as oil painting or etching.

My work as a freelancer has allowed me to create some fantastic projects for brilliant causes. Most recently I was commissioned by the Hampshire Constabulary to design the campaign against Child Sexual Exploitation. The campaign was widespread across the South Coast and Isle of Wight, as well as extending into London areas like Richmond and Hammond. Some of my designs have been featured on TV, within editorial publications, won competitions and seen on various clothing lines and album/EP artwork that is widespread. My current goal is to use my experience and passion as I seek to commence a teaching degree to become an art teacher.
