Pooja Lakwal is a Product Designer, whose area of interest lies in innovating, and remodeling the crafts sector, by combining material, research, and technology together. She is an alumna of MIT Institute of Design, Pune and has 6 years of professional experience, during which she has worked with several domestic and international clients, state governments, and academic institutions.
Her passion for Crafts has brought her to engage with several artisan communities across India. She has developed craft based products and carried out ethnographic research for Anantaya and AKFD Product Design Studios based in Jaipur. She has been on the Design team for Rajasthan Heritage Week 2016 - Handmade in Rajasthan, for branding and Design of the Exhibition. She has been collaborating with RUDA - Rural Non Farm Development Agency for the development of Namda (Felt) Craft in Tonk since 2017. For AIACA, she is carrying out pan India research for 'Craftmark Green' Certification.
Prior to this, she has worked as Innovation Consultant with Center for Knowledge Societies, where she brought creative social research methodologies, user experience, systems thinking and prototyping to clients including Intel Corporation for mapping opportunities for the pioneering of new
technologies such as the ‘Internet of Things in India’, and LIRNEasia, a policy think tank based in Sri Lanka to study the ‘Communication, Information and Knowledge’ needs of the ‘Micro Entrepreneurs in Myanmar’. She has also worked with the Bihar government through the Bihar Innovation Lab, for the improvement of mother and child public healthcare services.
Besides research, she thoroughly enjoys teaching and has mentored young entrepreneurs and Design Students through workshops and Design courses. Read Less
