Philip Kelly’s work encompasses a range of disciplines and media, including design, art direction, typography, and photography. He began designing graphics for fine arts, theatre and music clients in New Zealand and London, before joining Saatchi & Saatchi Wellington in 1995. In 1998, he joined JWT New York as Type Director and in 2002 became Creative Director of Design, launching thompsondesign for JWT NY. He has operated independently since 2006, for clients ranging from advertising, design, branding and digital companies.

Philip created unique typography for the monograph Exhibition by acclaimed design studio Socio X, published by Graphis Books. He has been profiled in Rockport publication Logo Design That Works. His custom type and type direction has appeared in Rolling Stone magazine, Paper magazine, Communication Arts and the Graphis Design Annual. His work has been recognized by Cannes Lion, Clios, Obies and a Gold Pencil at New York's One Show.

Philip is a US greencard holder based in Auckland, New Zealand.He currently holds the position of Head of Design for Whybin TBWA Auckland while continuing to work with his own clients locally and internationally. Read Less
