Paul Shapiro has been an advocate for animal welfare and food sustainability from a young age. In addition to Paul’s bestselling book, "Clean Meat: How Growing Meat Without Animals Will Revolutionize Dinner and the World," he’s been featured as a guest speaker on numerous various radio programs around the world, television talk shows, and TEDx.

As the founder of Compassion Over Killing and a former Vice President at the Humane Society of the United States, Paul Shapiro has had the privilege of spearheading legislative initiatives in order to prevent abuse of farm animals, engage with major food corporations to help end cruel practices in their supply chains, and increase demand for plant-based proteins.

Paul Shapiro has been an advocate for food sustainability from a young age. Compassion Over Killing was founded when he was in high school as school club in 1995, and later developed it into a national non-profit organization that protects animals from inhumane factory farming practices. After running the organization for several years, he left to start a farm animal protection program at the Humane Society of the United States. During his 13 years at the HSUS, Paul Shapiro served as a Vice President and helped lead many legislative initiatives to prevent abuse of farm animals, as well as engage with major food corporations to improve sustainability in their supply chains.

Paul Shapiro and his partner Toni Okamoto call California home, where they both work to spread awareness of how our food choices can help make the world a better place.
